A voice for equal protection.
Abolish Abortion Texas had MANY opportunities to speak up for providing the equal protection of the laws to preborn babies in Texas and across the country in 2022.

We look forward to doing even more in 2023!

A Voice to the 2023 Texas Legislative Session
📣 1st Post-Roe Legislative Session
The 2023 legislative session in Texas begins in January and AATX is already making plans to make this the best legislative session ever for abolishing abortion in Texas.

This will be the first regular session of the Texas Legislature since Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court in Dobbs.
✅ The good news is that physician-assisted abortion is illegal and many clinics have closed…

❌ The bad news is that abortion pills are being shipped across state lines to kill baby Texans while the Biden Administration promotes it and Texas law still allows women to use them to kill their babies.
Now that the evil, unconstitutional Roe opinion has finally been relegated to the trash heap where it always belonged, there is one less excuse for delaying equal protection for preborn babies.

The 2023 legislative session will be an EXTREMELY important time for finding out who is ready to completely abolish abortion in Texas without compromise…and who isn’t.

With the generous support of people like YOU who fund our work…

AATX is making plans to be there in Austin and around the state throughout this CRITICAL legislative session to advocate for equal protection for our most helpless neighbors: babies in the womb.

If we don’t speak up, who will?

With enough support, our plans for the 2023 Legislative Session include:

  • Drafting the 2023 Texas abolition bill (already well underway).
  • Recruiting co-authors for the bill (requires potential meetings and travel).
  • Launching and promoting a petition, supporting abolishing abortion in TX to amass support and bring awareness to abolition (requires a lot of marketing to bring it to the attention of the grassroots).
  • Initiating our State of the State campaign to mobilize the grassroots to urge the governor to add abolishing abortion as a priority item for the legislative session (includes a petition drive, texts, calls, and mailers if we have funding).
  • Hosting a rally at the capitol to support the bill (requires signage, t-shirts, sound system, livestream tech, and more if we have funding).
  • Organizing Grassroots Lobby Day(s): Texans from across the state come to Austin and visit legislator’s offices (requires materials for activists to give to legislators and travel sponsorships if we have funding).
  • Holding legislators accountable. For legislators who signed the AATX pledge but may fail to sign onto the bill, we must hold them accountable and inform their constituents (requires texts, calls, and mailers to their districts which are expensive but VERY effective).
  • Putting pressure on the committee chair to give the bill a hearing and a vote (may mean testifying in committees, travel expenses, rallies in committee chair’s district, etc.—also expensive to do but VERY effective).
  • Helping prepare those who will testify before committees to speak for abolition.
  • If the bill does not get a hearing, put pressure on the chair by mobilizing our efforts in his/her district (may require expensive mailers, calls, organizing block walking, tech and materials to manage a grassroots campaign).
  • Conducting legislative analysis on competing bills that legislators may try to pass instead of abolishing abortion to inform legislators on how these bills do or do not satisfy biblical and Constitutional requirements for equal protection (requires time and resources to contact legislators and put this information in their hands; possible in-person meetings).
Our minimum budget for this legislative session is $50,000.

And to be even more effective, we need additional funding ready to go for putting grassroots pressure on the committee chair and other key legislators in their districts. That means expensive mailers and on-the-ground, door-to-door blockwalking and rallies.

What Did We Accomplish in 2022?
A Voice to Political Candidates and Legislators in Texas
📣 Changing the Political Conversation
AATX is dedicated to bringing transparency and accountability into Texas politics on the issue of ending abortion. And praise God, we have seen some very good results from our efforts in 2022!

A few years ago AATX set out to make abolishing abortion a central issue in political races in Texas.

And it’s working!

In 2022, Texas candidates have been talking about abolition and equal protection in races across the state. From races for House seats all the way to the Governor’s office, candidates are making statements about the abolition of abortion because voters want to know where they stand.

When Rep. Bryan Slaton publicly pledged to refile our bill to abolish abortion in Texas in the next session, the top three challenger candidates in the Governor’s race publicly pledged their support for the bill. 👏

This kind of progress didn’t happen by accident. It has taken a lot of hard work.

A Voice to Voters in Texas 📣
📣 2022 AATX Candidate Survey + Holding Candidates Accountable
In 2022, we again sent out the AATX Candidate Survey to candidates leading up to the Republican primaries and General Election. And we got over 80 responses--three times more candidates than we did with our first survey in 2020!

This means we could speak up by providing Texas voters with a voter guide letting them know which candidates:
✅ Pledged their support for abolishing abortion immediately regardless of federal court opinions.
✅ Supported the Party Platform, Principles, and Legislative Priorites of the Republican Party of Texas on abolishing abortion.
✅ Pledged to take a stand and sponsor legislation that would abolish abortion.
Without these surveys and the accountability they provide, most people would have been in the dark on what their candidates are really doing. AATX is changing that.
We were able to bring some truth to light in the 2022 race for the Republican nomination in HD 91 where the Republican incumbent and committee chair, Stephanie Klick was challenged by abolitionist candidate David Lowe.

Though Klick is a decorated Pro-Life politician, as committee chair she killed our abolition bill last session so it never saw the light of day. 😲

We used our voice to make sure voters in her district knew what she did by sending ~8,000 mailers to her constituents as well as thousands of phone calls and emails into her district. The race was so close that the election went to a runoff, showing that abolition can’t be ignored any longer.👇

📣 Abolitionist Candidates
In 2022 we saw openly abolitionist candidates running for office in Texas willing to challenge the status quo of regulating abortion as healthcare.

One of the MAJOR goals of AATX is to make the abolition of abortion a central issue in Texas politics. The race for the Republican nomination in HD 91 showed us that this isn’t just a lofty dream; it is becoming a reality in Texas.

Though Lowe narrowly missed winning the nomination, he made it clear to the Pro-Life establishment that there are MANY people in Texas who are fed up with playing political games with the lives of babies and want abortion abolished immediately.

This race was being watched across the state and the message it sends to Texas lawmakers is that if you kill a bill to abolish abortion like Stephanie Klick did with HB 3326, it will be VERY costly.

A Voice to the Republican Party of Texas (RPT)

The 2022 RPT Convention in Houston was our best convention yet since we first advocated for abolition there back in 2016. We kept all the ground we’ve gained in the past plus we ADDED an equal protection plank and strengthened the RPT Legislative Priorities.

We had 50+ volunteers working hard to advocate for their preborn neighbors and they did an incredible job!

  • They distributed over 7,000 of our Resolution pamphlets and over 3,000 equal protection postcards. 😮

  • They collected over 1,400 petition signatures from delegates and stood to speak on behalf of equal protection before committees and during floor debate. 🙌

  • We sent texts on equal protection to over 7,000 delegates who were in attendance. 📱

Many seeds were sown that will inevitably bear fruit far into the future.

📣 Testifying in RPT committee hearings

AATX president Bradley Pierce and AATX board member J.R. Haas spoke for equal protection before the RPT Legislative Priorities Committee.

In 2023 Grassroots Efforts are CRITICAL to the Fight

In this post-Roe environment, we want Texas to be a LEADER in providing God-honoring, Constitutional equal protection to preborn babies.

State conventions and grassroots efforts like this one are essential to the fight to abolish abortion in a post-Roe environment.

A Voice to the Supreme Court
📣 Dobbs v. Jackson Brief Submitted

AATX has been an uncompromising voice for equal protection even at the Supreme Court level.

Through the Foundation to Abolish Abortion, attorney and AATX president Bradley Pierce drafted and submitted the ONLY abolitionist legal brief submitted in the Dobbs v. Jackson case.

AATX signed on to this abolitionist legal brief along with 20 other organizations and 20 state legislators.

This historic legal brief argued that:

  • The Court should do its duty before God and under the Constitution and overturn Roe.

  • The 14th Amendment requires states to provide the equal protection of the laws to all people.

  • Regardless of what the Court does, it is the DUTY of the states to abolish abortion and establish equal protection for ALL people, including those who are still in the womb.

✅ We are thankful to God that the Court DID heed our arguments and those of many others to overturn Roe, removing a perceived barrier to abolishing abortion.

❌ Unfortunately, though, the Supreme Court DID NOT uphold the preborn child’s Constitutional right to the equal protection of the laws.

This means there is a lot more work to be done.

Dobbs did not settle this issue. In fact, just recently the Supreme Court declined to even hear a case where equal protection for preborn babies was being argued (Jane Doe et al. v. McKee).

The state level activism of AATX is CRITICAL to the post-Roe fight to abolish abortion.

If babies are going to be equally protected by law, the states must stand up and do it. And Texas can and should be a leader for the nation in protecting babies no matter who is trying to kill them, how small they are, or how they were conceived.

A Voice to Chur ch Leaders
📣 2022 Foundation to Abolish Abortion Church Leaders Conference

The success of efforts to abolish abortion in Texas depends heavily on the faithfulness of the Church.

It is the duty of the Church to practice love, mercy, and justice toward our preborn neighbors. This is why we invest heavily in equipping church leaders to lead their congregations in this battle.

In August of 2022, AATX helped sponsor the first Foundation to Abolish Abortion (FAA) Church Leaders Conference held in Houston, Texas.

This conference called upon pastors and other church leaders to use their God-given gifts of preaching, teaching, and leading with one unified, principled voice to abolish abortion for the glory of God.

Ten pastors and leaders who are seasoned in the fight to abolish abortion brought messages which are critical to preparing the Church for the post-Roe fight.

Broadcast for greater impact 📣

We livestreamed this conference to our AATX Facebook page and YouTube channel and then released the individual messages to YouTube after the conference in order to amplify the impact of the event and bring this timely teaching to many more people who need to hear it.
